Tijdens de lockdown kan TheArtCouch niet op atelierbezoeken gaan, daarom vroegen we kunstenaars om een stukje van hun atelier naar ons te brengen, in de vorm van een filmpje. Vandaag selecteerden we de inzending van Daniela Chirion, voor wie de lockdown een moment biedt om te mijmeren over stilte, leegte en afstand (ook van zichzelf). Ze vergezelde haar filmpje met deze ingetogen gedachte:
For an artist, solitude is welcomed, heaven, blessing and curse.
It is one of the necessary conditions for creation.
The past few weeks, therefore, brought nothing new in the rhythm of my life.
More silence, perhaps.
I observed that I have listened less to music, which usually is omnipresent.
Now, involuntarily, I let it be replaced by wind, rain, birds.
Time slowed down.
Eight o’clock in the evening is marked by the church bells, reminding me of Cennino Cennini’s comparison of the artist to a monk.
People applause in solidarity with the healthcare workers.
Their claps fill the empty streets.
A beautiful gesture of gratitude.
Life goes on.
